Overview
KYOCERA AVX offers varistors that are designed to prevent static and surge damage, making them a reliable choice for industrial applications. Among these is FLEXITERM®, a soft termination varistor with enhanced resistance to substrate deflection, a crucial specification for automotive applications.
FLEXITERM® by KYOCERA AVX utilizes conductive resin for the electrodes, providing tolerance to deflection of up to 5mm. In comparison, conventional varistors offer 2mm of resistance. It is particularly well-suited for applications that demand high reliability and safety, such as direct battery connection lines for automotive equipment.

Test Method
For each varistor mounted on the board, bend the substrate until the varistor fails.
Test Result
The soft termination product (FLEXITERM®) has significantly improved resistance to substrate deflection compared to general varistors.
