How to Mount a SuperCapacitor That Does Not Require Hand Soldering or Dip Soldering?
In general, a SuperCapacitor cannot be reflow mounted, but it becomes possible when used in combination with KYOCERA AVX's Poke-Home (wire catch) connector.
Overview
KYOCERA AVX has developed and mass-produced cylindrical type SuperCapacitors capable of rapid charging and discharging.
Introducing SuperCapacitors for Rapid Charging and Discharging
Product Lineup of SuperCapacitors
Generally, SuperCapacitors are lead components and cannot be reflow mounted. Therefore, they are mounted by hand solder or solder dip.
The Poke-Home (wire catch) connector manufactured by KYOCERA AVX facilitates the reflow mounting of SuperCapacitors. When used in conjunction with a Poke-Home connector, reflow implementation is possible.
Features
- The SuperCapacitor and substrate can be connected without the use of hand soldering or dip soldering.
- After reflow mounting the Poke-Home connector on the board, it is easy to insert the lead wire of the SuperCapacitor.
- High contact reliability through secure wire catch.
- No jig required when mounting.
- Can also be used with leaded components other than SuperCapacitors (aluminum electrolytic capacitors, ceramic capacitors, varistors, etc.).
What is the Poke-Home Connector
- No soldering or crimping process required.
- High contact reliability through secure wire catch.
- Suitable for a wide variety of applications, including industrial machinery infrastructure, consumer equipment, and automobiles.

Implementation Method for SuperCapacitors Using Poke-Home Connectors
- Reflow the two Poke-Home connectors to the board.
- SuperCapacitors can be plugged into two Poke-Home connectors for solderless mounting.
