The World-First*1 Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitor (MLCC) Delivering the Industry’s Highest 47μF Capacitance in 0402-inch Size*2


Kyocera has successfully developed the world’s first*1 compact, high-capacity multilayer ceramic chip capacitor (MLCC) with industry-leading capacitance of 47µF in the 0402-inch size*2 (1.0mm x 0.5mm). Mass production is scheduled to start in December 2025.

Development Background
The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) technology is driving a surge in demand for smartphones equipped with generative AI and AI servers. In addition, the number of integrated components is increasing as data processing technology becomes more advanced, and there is a growing need for ultra-components that can be efficiently mounted on limited board space. MLCCs, which are widely used in these electronic devices, are also expected to become even smaller and have higher capacitance. We have developed products that meet these needs.
